NOTES: Late in July 2011, the Prospect Lodge #660 kitchen flooded. Many months of effort (especially Craig Bruce & Matthew Anthony) have brought our basement storage area and kitchen back better than ever!! As we start the new year, we ask that members especially support lodge functions....please plan on attending the next Fish Fry.

SPECIAL NOTICE! On Saturday February 11th, the lodge will be closed in order to tear-up the old flooring in the Social Quarters. We are asking for members to volunteer time to help with removing the old flooring.

Jan/18/2012 - Wednesday - This afternoon we are serving the regular lunch menu. Stop-in for for a drink or bite to eat! Tonight at 6:30pm, we have a Bean-bag and Pool tournament. Your support of lodge functions and causes are especially appreciated.

Welcome Summer Brothers and Co-Workers!!

Looking back over the past four months, the lodge has been progressing very well! We’ve hosted some great events, we installed our new officers, and we have begun the upgrade of our Main Hall.

First recapping April, thanks to all that helped at the Kids Easter party! The weather turned out real nice that day, and the kids had a blast. Lots of eggs, candy, and of course the Easter Bunny made the day! Then, the Public Fish Fry on Good Friday was a great success. Thanks to Ed Okrei and all the volunteers who helped cook, serve, and conduct the tickets sales for the Public Fish Fry.

We began the month of May with the Uno De Mayo party! The Uno De Mayo party turned out awesome! We thank Diana Schutz, Colleen Ryan, and each of their helpers who put together a very festive evening on May 1st. Then on June 19th we held the Polkaholics party!! The Polkaholics party was full of energy, lots of fun music, and it turned-out very lucrative for the lodge! Thanks to Bill Pickett, Lori Swalla, and the folks who helped make the Polkaholics party a very special event!

The WOTM Spring Smorgasbord and Car Wash events were both very well supported. Thanks to Patty Rutter, Gerri Plotke, and all of the women for their efforts with WOTM events. The Legion Picnic turned out real good despite the threat of rain. And participation in Tuesday night Horseshoes has been very strong. All-in-all...this spring we’ve had great support and strong participation in lodge events...let’s keep the momentum going for the second half of 2010!

You might have noticed that the upgrade to our Main Hall has begun. A big thank you goes out to Craig Bruce for his generous donation of time and materials to accomplish our goals for the new Main Hall. To-date we have re-configured the stage and installed new storage closets. The stage is now a unique portable design where the front extension can be set-up or dismantled according to the needs of an event. Next steps in the Main Hall are to install new lighting fixtures and then apply a fresh coat of paint.

And speaking of lodge upgrades….a special thanks extended to Peter Hopp and Jim Dietrich for rebuilding our horseshoe pits!! Before the season began, Pete & Jim re-set all of the stakes with a deep and solid foundation. Also, a big thank you goes out to Pete Tararo for fixing and setting-up our patio canopy.

At the time of writing this newsletter, we learned that one of our Lodge 660 brothers had coordinated a unique donation to Mooseheart. Mr. Joe Silverman of Lodge 660 secured over 100 tickets for the July 8th soccer game of the Chicago Fire versus the Salt Lake Real. The tickets were then donated to Mooseheart on behalf of the Prospect Lodge 660! Joe was a chaperon that day….reporting that it was a fantastic experience for everyone in attendance! Thank you Joe Silverman for such a wonderful effort!!

We apologize for the delay in producing this newsletter. In closing, I’d just like to remind everyone to check the web-page (moosepages.org) for upcoming events and/or any last minute updates or announcements. Also, horseshoes are every Tuesday at 6:30PM, and Legion Dinners are the last Wednesday of every month. Let’s continue our great progress and have a fun summer around Moose Lodge 660! Hello Co-Workers!!
Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather. We had 3 very busy months and a few great events. Thank you to all who helped make them successful and also those who supported them by participating.
We have a lot more planned for the upcoming months so join us for the Chapter meetings and see if you can help with some events that we are planning…at least come to have your input heard at these meetings. Also make sure to check the bulletin board in the Social Quarters to see what is happening.
April is Health Awareness Month. Our first Chapter meeting in April will end on a happy note – come and join us at Laughing Yoga with Sarah. On April 18th, we will have our 10th annual Spring Smorgasbord! Let us know if you want to donate food or can help! On April 24th, we invite all our Co-Workers to attend the Installation of Officers.
Do you like authentic Mexican food? Sign up for the “Uno de Mayo” fiesta being held on May 1st. On May 22nd (rain date May 23rd), we will hold our annual Spring Food drive and Yard Sale. Start your spring cleaning early and see what you can donate! Remember, whatever we don’t sell, we donate to different charities.
June is education Month and also a Leadership HOTT training month. I encourage all Co-Workers who plan to take an office in the future to participate in these training sessions. June 26th will be our first Car Wash!
Coongratulations to two of our Co-Workers, Bessie Geanakoplos who received her Green Cap and Zita Badgley who received the Co-Worker of the Year award! Thank you, ladies, for your dedication and hard work!
I would like to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts with you. For the past year, I have served as Junior Regent. It has been a very interesting year for me, full of new experiences, and I have worked with an amazing group of co-Workers. We had ups and downs, but the greatest thing is that in the end, all differences were set aside and we worked together toward a common goal. That is what we are about – lending a helping hand and making things happen! I would like to thak all of the Co-workers that guided me, helped me, and were very patient with me (even though sometimes I had no idea what I was supposed to do, or when they didn’t understand me due to the language barrier). I think you are all doing a magnificent job for the Moose Organization and it has been a real pleasure to work with each of you. My best wishes to the new Administration for a successful year!
